Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Hydrogen Production Processes: Turquoise Hydrogen vs. Steam Methane Reforming

نویسندگان

چکیده

Hydrogen has received substantial attention because of its diverse application in the energy sector. Steam methane reforming (SMR) dominates current hydrogen production and is least expensive endothermic reaction to produce grey hydrogen. This technology provides advantages low cost high efficiency; however, it emits an enormous amount CO2. Carbon capture storage (CCS) helps reduce these emissions by 47% 53%, producing blue Methane pyrolysis alternative SMR that produces (ideally) CO2-free turquoise In practice, reduces CO2 71% compared 46% While carbon dioxide decrease with CCS, fugitive (FMEs) for are higher than those increased use natural gas power capture. We undertake FMEs 3.6% consumption individual processes. this study, we also explore utilization biogas as a feedstock additional Boudouard reactions efficient solid from biogas. The present study focuses on possible ways overall provide solutions sustainable low-CO2 source.

Stepwise methane steam reforming: a route to CO-free hydrogen

A method for the production of clean hydrogen is demonstrated. The process consists of two steps involving the decomposition of methane to CO-free hydrogen and surface carbon in the first step followed by steam gasification of this surface carbon in the second step. This process can be operated in cycles and could be an excellent hydrogen source for fuel cells and other devices or processes req...

Efficient production of hydrogen from natural gas steam reforming in palladium membrane reactor

Ultra-thin, high performance composite palladium membrane, developed via a novel electroless plating method, was applied to construct a membrane reactor for methane steam reforming reaction, which was investigated under the following working conditions: temperature 723–823 K, pressure 300–900 kPa, gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) 4000–8000 mL g 1 cat h , steam-to-carbon feed ratio (S/C, mol/mol...

Steam Reforming of Ethanol: Production of Renewable Hydrogen

Abnormal growth of population and development enormously increases energy demand. In present scenario utilization of fossils fuels to meet this demand is not enough and also leads to pollution, global warming, climate change as well as natural disaster. Therefore, hydrogen as energy carrier is a major option on these prospects as it is non-polluting and renewable. The renewable hydrogen energy ...

Hydrogen production by sorption-enhanced steam reforming of glycerol.

Catalytic steam reforming of glycerol for H(2) production has been evaluated experimentally in a continuous flow fixed-bed reactor. The experiments were carried out under atmospheric pressure within a temperature range of 400-700 degrees C. A commercial Ni-based catalyst and a dolomite sorbent were used for the steam reforming reactions and in situ CO(2) removal. The product gases were measured...
